Discord Bots

Here is just some general information about some of the bots we have live and some of the setups they have. 

My first creation was the Phoenix ET, its a simple event tracking bot. Its now a powerhouse free to use by anyone. We used to have one in the server but the code for it was from another bot and was not kept updated. I had no knowledge back then to fix it.

It was set up in a server that wont be named here, the code due to dispute was released fully open source a fair few years back. The time it was made I have no oubt it was a powerhouse, Its now just a sad old relic sitting in the corner forgetting its most basic functions.

In all honesty the bot was barely holding together when we had it, It had antiquated setups and enough red warnings to confuse visual studio code and should have been decommissioned a long time ago and updated. I do actually have a fully updated copy of that bot that was used in the old server. I did offer to container it and offer them free use or buy the code for a one off price but that didn’t work out. no loss though I got to learn new code so honestly a massive win. Fully Expected, I was offered a “nod of appreciation” and a shout out but we all know how that pays the bills, I know that my work would have been sterilised from the bot from 6 months and all involvement denied.

Next was a bot called Knox, as in Fort Knox. It does general moderation and onboarding. It does have the unique feature of not deleting messages but doing that after a set time to allow non intrusive chats about things. 

Then the ByteBot made for a close friend, it has links to his web guides on his FuzionByte website. A legend of a man. It has YouTube API links set up for his channel and posts any new videos he uploads.

Then some fun bots, One to spam tag everyone in a server for events. Another to display what I’m watching or listening to. Just fun little ones.

Then was the PSN bot with API links into PSN. Used to gather trophy information on games and display stats. It was showing massive potential but due to resistance of some of the setups  I closed down and mothballed all further development into it.

Then there was Garry, its a general purpose moderation bot and server handling bot. I’m actively adding features as I need them. I don’t want to spend money on a bot where I don’t control my own data. It also has YouTube API links for our channel. 

Then Heimdall. I got annoyed by those Spam/scam bots posting into every channel and then V1 was deployed. A simple open channel where anyone can send messages into to get a free 7 day mute. Now V2 is live, This actively keeps track of the last 10 messages sent by every user and gives them an internal rating. If they get flagged as a bot, Heimdall then mutes them for 7 days and deletes the last 48hrs of messages sent. As the scammers evolve so does the bot. Its a game of cat and mouse.

You might be wondering why I do this? Not much to say, I was fuelled by pettiness and hate with a sprinkle of fuck you in particular. It wasn’t some noble goal, just a “someone would kill their mother for this”. Its why the bots are free to use and hosted by me, the bots cant be used by them.
